And the last verb in this lesson is finalise, finalize, which means to finish the last part of a plan, arrangement or business deal. Our examples, will we be able to finalize the deal this week? Say it with me, will we be able to finalize the deal this week? Maria, can you please finalise the arrangements for our trip to Mumbai? And also let me know if there are any other areas of business English that I can help you with. And I'll do my best to create a lesson on that topic.

所以我们有它,开会时更重要的动词。如果你想在你自己的例句中尝试其中的一些动词,请把它们写在注释中,我会给你一些反馈。并且让我知道是否还有其他我可以帮助你的商务英语领域。我会尽我所能创建一个关于这个主题的课程。

【视频】Six Common Email Errors_原文和译文

2024年04月23日 19:42

Hi everybody. Hope you're all doing well in this business. English email lesson I'm going to show you 6 common mistakes and how you can correct them.

大家好。希望你们在这个行业都做得很好。我将向你展示6个常见的错误以及如何纠正它们。

Welcome back to English for Professionals. I'm Derrick, and I'm here with another short lesson for you busy people. Before we get started, just a quick reminder to subscribe to my channel, hit the red button, and don't forget to click on the little bell. That way you'll be notified every time I upload a new lesson. And now let's get started. Don't forget to stick around for the quiz at the end of the lesson.

欢迎回到专业英语。我是德里克,我在这里为你们忙碌的人们带来了另一个简短的课程。在我们开始之前,只需快速提醒一下订阅我的频道,点击红色按钮,并且不要忘记点击小铃铛。这样,每次我上传新课时都会通知您。现在让我们开始吧。不要忘记在课程结束时留下来参加测验。

Now take a look at this first sentence. So do you know what the problem is here? We have to change a word, but which one we have to change? Remember, the correct way to write this center is with remind. I would like to remind everyone that registration for the conference ends on Thursday This week, remember, is something that we do ourselves. If you remember someone or something, you keep that person or thing in your mind. We use remind when we want to make other people think of or keep someone or something in their mind.

现在看看这第一句话。你知道这里的问题是什么吗?我们必须改变一个词,但我们必须改变哪个词?请记住,撰写本中心的正确方法是提醒。我想提醒大家,本次会议的报名在本周星期四结束,请记住,这是我们自己做的事情。如果你记得某人或某事,你会把那个人或事记在心里。当我们想让别人想到或在脑海中记住某人或某事时,我们使用提醒。

And here's our second example. Any idea is what we need to change here? Well, it's the word until we need to replace it with bye, we can assure you that you will receive the goods by 2 PM on Friday until tells us how long a situation continues. If something happens until a specific time, you stop doing it at that time. For example I'm working until 7 PM this evening. If something happens by a specific time, it happens at or before that time. It is often used to refer to a deadline.

这是我们的第二个例子。有什么想法是我们需要改变的吗?好的,直到我们需要用bye替换它,我们可以向您保证,您将在Friday的2个下午之前收到商品,直到告诉我们情况持续了多长时间。如果某事在特定时间之前发生,你会在那个时候停止做它。例如,我今晚要工作到下午7点。如果某事在特定时间发生,它必须在该时间或之前发生。它经常被用来指代截止日期。

And now for our third example. So what's the problem here? There's an extra word, but which one is it? Any ideas? The extra word here is, but we don't need to use it after I'm afraid I'm afraid is used to politely tell someone something that may annoy, upset, or disappoint them. It's often followed by a subject like Mr Johnson in this sentence, or I'm afraid I don't agree. We can also follow it with that. I'm afraid that will not be possible.

现在是我们的第三个例子。那么这里有什么问题?有一个额外的词,但它是哪一个?有什么想法吗?这里多出来的词是,但我们不需要使用它,因为我害怕它被用来礼貌地告诉某人可能会让他们烦恼、沮丧或失望的事情。在这句话后面经常跟着像约翰逊先生这样的话题,或者我恐怕不同意。我们也可以跟随它。恐怕这是不可能的。

And now for number 4, what about this one, what can we improve here? There's an extra word again, let's take out about in our next meeting, we will discuss the new marketing strategy I think a lot of people use about here because we often use it together with talk, talk about, talk about and discuss mean the same in English. So if we say discuss about, it's like saying talk about about so never use about after discuss and here comes our 5th error, how can we improve the first sentence? Well, we need to make a small change at the beginning, would you mind sending me the results of the survey again? I think I deleted the original email by mistake. First of all, the phrase would you mind is a polite form. We use it to ask people to do things if we want to use it together with a verb, the verb always has to be in the ink form Would you mind helping me with this email?

Would you mind coming in a little earlier tomorrow? And now let's have a look at number 6. Any ideas what we need to do here? Well, there's a word missing, but where I would like to inform you that we have accepted your proposal and would like to arrange another meeting to discuss the next steps. So the missing word is you. When we use the verb in form, we need a direct object. And in this case, it's you.

你介意明天早点来吗?现在让我们来看看数字6。你知道我们需要在这里做什么吗?嗯,少了一个词,但是我想通知你,我们已经接受了你的建议,并想安排另一次会议来讨论接下来的步骤。所以缺失的词就是你。当我们在形式中使用动词时,我们需要一个直接的宾语。在这种情况下,就是你。

More examples. We informed him about the process last week. Have you informed our partners about the new developments? And now it's time for our quiz. There are six questions and you have 5 seconds for each one. Good luck.

更多的例子。我们上周向他通报了这个过程。你有没有通知我们的合作伙伴最新的发展情况?现在是我们测验的时候了。共有六个问题,每个问题你有5秒钟的时间回答。祝你好运。

We need to have the report finished by 12 PM on Monday.

我们需要在周一下午12点之前完成报告。

Could you please remind Mr Singh about the product catalogs?

您能提醒辛格先生一下产品目录吗?

I think we should discuss these problems in our weekly meeting.

我认为我们应该在每周的会议上讨论这些问题。

Would you mind confirming the details once again?

你介意再次确认一下细节吗?

I'm afraid we won't have time to discuss that topic tomorrow.

恐怕明天我们没有时间讨论那个话题。

We would like to inform you that Bliss Year's Conference will take place in Chennai. That brings us to the end of another lesson. I hope you found it helpful and if there are any other areas of business English I can help you with, let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to cover those topics in upcoming lessons. If you did like it, hit the like button and share with your friends and colleagues. Subscribe to my channel if you haven't done that already, and join my email list. Every two weeks I send out my free vocabulary email with additional business English words from the news and everyday English for you to learn the link is in the description below. Thanks a lot for watching and see you soon.
