USAGE

Go has long been used to describe the production of nonlinguistic noises, as inThe train went “toot.” The cow goes “moo.” In recent years, however, younger speakers have extended this use ofgo  to the report of speech, as inThen he goes, “You think you're  real smart, don't you.”  For speakers young enough to get away with it,this usage serves a useful purpose in informal spoken narrative as an explicit indicator of a direct quotation, particularly when the speaker wishes to mimic the accent or intonation of the original spoken source.Largely restricted to the “narrative present” used in vivid description,it is highly inappropriate in formal speech or writing.

n.Games (名词)【游戏】

1. 英文更多用go and inf. 而较少用go to inf.。 Go and tell him the news. / She thought of going and getting him. 她想到去找着他(参见come and inf., hurry up and inf., stay and inf., try and inf., be sure and inf. 等)。

【例如】Go help your friend. / Go buy a bottle of milk. 【例如】Go to sleep!

【例如】go boating 泛舟 / go bowling 打保龄球 / go camping 野营 / go climbing 爬山 / go dancing 跳舞 / go fishing 钓鱼(带有休闲性质,不是渔业的捕鱼)/ go golfing 打高尔夫球 / go hiking 漫步登山 / go horseback riding 或go riding 骑马 / go hunting 打猎 / go duck hunting 打野鸭 / go jogging 慢跑 / go running跑步 / go sailing 驾船 / go shooting 射击 / go shopping 购物,逛商店 / go skating 溜冰 / go skiing 滑雪 / go water skiing 滑水 / go swimming 游泳 / go walking 散步。 Come swimming with us tomorrow.

【例如】go blind瞎了眼睛 / go deaf耳朵聋了 / go crazy发了疯 / go pale脸色发白 / go sour变酸了 / Her face went red. / The bread's gone hard. / The phone suddenly went dead. / Everything suddenly went quiet. 【例如】go public(股票)上市 / go digital with one's photos改用数码照相机照相 / The city has gone Democratic. / Wall Street is going green. / I worked for a building company until the end of 1999, then I went freelance.

【例如】Two burgers to go. 【例如】Here or to go?

He has gone to London就是“他去了伦敦,还没有回来”。 He has been to London。

参见 come 1

He is gone. is gone 着重在“已去”的状态,has gone 便着重在“去”的动作。

He looks like a man suddenly gone mad 里的 gone 也是用作形容词。

He has gone often recently.

He has gone twice this week.

He has gone only once.

He has been at Shanghai often recently 和 He has been there twice this week 等。

have gone 既然是“已经去而不在这里”的意思,所以不可说 I have gone。

He has gone to Beijing.

He has been to Beijing.

4.He has gone for five days He has been going for five days He has been gone for five days 或 He has been away for five days。It is five days since he went 和 He went five days ago 都没有“他还未回来”的含意。

I go to Beijing next Friday 和 I am going to Beijing next Friday,作 I shall go to Beijing next Friday 解。

6.go on 后面接不定式和接现在分词意思不同,如 go on to read lesson ten 是“(读完了第九课)接着读第十课”,go on reading lesson ten 是“继续读第十课”。go on 后面接不定式指一个时刻(a point of time)的动作。例如:At half past three I went on to read lesson ten. go on 后面接现在分词指一段时间(a period of time)的动作。例如:For half an hour I went on reading lesson ten.

After a little pause he went on with his speech. 和 He went on with his speech for half an hour.

Having read lesson nine I went on to read lesson ten.

From reading lesson nine I went on to reading lesson ten.

from...to...

8.He began to go all sorts of places(他开始到各处去玩)里的 go 用作及物动词。

I'll go see my brother。

10.请别人先走时习惯上不说 Go first,该说 After you。

Let me go away for a minute,该说 Excuse me a minute。

12.It is going to be fine tomorrow 里的 is going to... I am going to learn English 里的 am going to...
