This can be illustrated by the soaring increase in the number of students who entered universities in recent years. Though nearly all people realize how important tertiary education is, they still hold different understandings on the role that universities played.
Some people aim to get a good job after graduation. They insist that students in universities should get prepared for employment so that they can easily get a job after graduation. This can decrease the unemployment rate and reduce the burden of the public's welfare. It can also bring quantities of tax income for the government's financial, which can be used to support some disadvantaged aspects, such as pension and health care.
While others hold an opposite opinion. They believe universities should not be oriented by employment. University should cultivate researchers, instead of skilled technicians. Focusing on employment too much may hamper students to acquire the theoretical knowledge.
