You spend lots of time bragging about the things you do, whether they are big or small.

不管是大事还是不足挂齿的小事,你都会跟别人谈论很久。

(In fact, some people seem to do more bragging than doing.)

(事实上,有些人似乎有些言过其实。)

Yet, just as important are the things that you choose not to do.

然而同样重要的事件,你却没有做。,

What are you not doing that you can brag about?

You Can’t Do Everything

你什么都不能做

You have the same amount of time in the day as everyone else. The only difference is how you choose to spend it.

每天你的时间和别人的都是一样的。唯一的区别就是你要怎么利用这些时间。

And you cannot do everything.

Just as important as what you are accomplishing is what you aren’t doing. Not doing one thing gives you more time to do something else.

你没做的事情和你做的事情是一样的重要。没做这件事会让你有更多的时间去做另一件事。

“What you choose not to do is just as important as what you decide to do.”

“你选择不做的事和你决心要去做的事是一样的重要。”

When was the last time you announced, “Wow, I am so glad I didn’t do this…” or “Glad I didn’t waste any effort doing that!”

上次说“哇哦,没做这件事真是太对了”或者“在那件事上幸好我没有花精力”是什么时候?

This type of announcement might not be popular in a corporate workplace that thrives on a “do do do” mentality. Even less in one that suffers from Busy Bee Syndrome.

即使是一个勤奋的职员偶尔说一两次,这种话可能在一直奉行“干活干活”的公众场合也并不适合。

What was the last thing you could brag that you didn’t do?

上次说幸好没做那件事是什么事呢?

Didn’t start another task until you finished the one at hand

要是手边的这件事没做完,那就不要开始另一件事。

Didn’t let others interrupt you while doing important work

当你在处理一件很重要的事情的时候,不要让人打扰你。

Didn’t let your phone or email disturb you while out to dinner with your spouse

当你和你的另一半在外用餐的时候不要让电话或者是电子邮件打扰你们。

Didn’t address the inconsequential task on your plate。

不要把那些无关紧要的事情归结到自己身上。

Didn’t do the task that wasn’t on your list

不要做那些没有在你待办事项上的工作。

Didn’t endlessly surf the web or read the news

不要没完没了的上网、看新闻

Didn’t spend time gossiping instead of working

不要因为聊八卦而不工作。

Some Things are Better Not Done

有些事最好不要做

To improve what you are getting done in your day, you need to examine what you are *not doing.* Choosing not to engage in one task allows you more time to do the one that needs to get done.

提高你一天的工作效率,你需要审视哪些是你“没做的。”选择放弃一件你正在的事,给自己留更多时间去做更需要去做的事。

As you go through your list, make a “To Don’t List.” Try replacing your “Don’t Habits” with better “Do Habits.” Or perhaps, simply put up reminders to keep you from doing those tasks you shouldn’t be doing.

看看你的日程表,把那些“不要做”的事情写上。尝试着做“要做的事”,不要去做“不要做的事”或者,也许只要记住要让自己不去做那些不应该做的事情。
